Gum Contouring / Gingivectomy
Gum Contouring, also known as Gingivectomy is a medical procedure that can be preferred for both medical and cosmetic purposes. The operation can be used to treat conditions like gingivitis or to correct uneven or too low/high gum lines. The procedure can bring the gums to the ideal shape and position, and give patients a smile they can be proud of. In some cases, it can be combined with other dental procedures such as crown lengthening or pocket reduction.
Before Gum Contouring in Turkey
Our dentist will examine the gums and the overall oral health of the patient. Patients should share their medical history with their dentist including previous operations and use of any medicine.
During Gum Contouring in Turkey
Local anesthetics are injected into the gums. The dentist cut’s away the determined parts of the gum tissue using either a scalpel or a laser tool. Once the excess gum tissue is removed, the dentist will vaporize and reshape the gum line. Gum tissue will be covered with special bandages to ensure protection.

Patients can go home right after the operation. Bandages should be replaced as directed by the dentist until the gums are ready to be exposed again. A soft diet is recommended, and cold compress on the cheeks can help with possible pain or irritation. Any soreness and pain will fade away in about 1 week.
